FAQs

Welcome!

We put together some common questions that clients have when exploring therapy.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, so if you have further inquiries, don’t hesitate to contact us!

Currently, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)  in the state of Illinois, California, Washington DC, New Jersey, and a Telehealth provider for Florida. I also work with clients living Internationally or  working/traveling abroad, including digital nomads, U.S. foreign expats, and visiting scholars.

If you live in a location other than the ones mentioned above, please contact me for more information! Many states offer a “endorsement” licensing process, where certain states allow out-of-state providers to apply for their state license.

    1. A key factor in determining the effectiveness of Psychotherapy is the fit between the therapist and patient/client. In our initial contact, you will have a chance to ask us any questions about starting the process of working together (e.g. availability, procedures, payment, methodologies). Please contact me for more information, or if you are ready now, schedule your initial consultation.
    2. Once we decide to move forward, we will set up our Assessment session, which is 60 minutes per session, over the course of 2-3 sessions. The length varies based on your specific needs and goals, and allow us enough time to determine whether we are a good fit as therapist and client.
    3. Moving forward, a regular individual session is 45-53 minutes long and is conducted via a Secure and HIPAA-Compliant video-conference platform. I also provide therapy for couples, families, and in group settings. Extended sessions are available upon request, and will be billed in accordance with the standard session rate.
    • Cost and Payment Options

The price depends on various factors, including the type of therapy, length of the session and methodology. Generally, a one-time regular session is between $200 and up, depending on the type of service.

    • In Network Coverage

I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO, Blue Choice, and UChicago’s USHIP plans. This means that I will bill your insurance company for the costs of the session. However, you are still responsible for any copays and coinsurance not covered by your plan at the time of service.

    • Out-of-Network Coverage

If your health insurance coverage is through Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, any other insurance companies,  or if you have Medicaid or Medicare, my services are considered out-of-network. Therefore, you are responsible for the full payment at the time of session.

This does not mean that your insurance provider will not provide coverage for behavioral health services.  Depending on you individual plan, I can provide you with the necessary documentation so that you can utilize your out-of-network benefits. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to verify your benefits, as they vary greatly from plan to plan.

We can also discuss payment options during our initial call.

    • Self-Pay

You are responsible for paying the full-fee for your scheduled sessions at the time of service. All remaining balances will be automatically charged between midnight-2AM the next calendar date. I accept most major credit cards, HSA and FSA debit cards, Direct Transfers, and other electronic payment options.

    • Sliding Scale / Payment Plans

There are a limited number of available spots for clients to take advantage of Program Packages. Paying for multiple sessions at a time is much cheaper than paying per session. However, this is completely up to you.

If you decide to pay-as-you-go, we do have a limited number of reduced fee clients. This is not guaranteed and may not be available at the time that you begin Therapy. However, it never hurts to ask! Please let us know if we can assist you with easing the financial commitment.

I do not. Sessions will be fully remote, and we will be able to see each other face-to-face through videoconference.

I see patients on a minimum weekly basis. Consistency plays an important role in your progress and healing.
As you progress, various factors may lead you to consider increasing or decreasing the frequency. Before making a change, we will discuss this together in a session to make sure that this will best suit your needs and maintain the appropriate level of support.

We know that things come up and you have to cancel a session. Please remember to make any changes to your scheduled time at least 24 hours in advance. Once the appointment is scheduled, you are responsible for the full fee unless you provide 24 hours advance notice of cancellation. This is necessary because a time commitment was made to you, so the advanced notice allows us to offer this time to another client. If you paid in advance for a package, you will forfeit the credit for that session unless you provided a 24-hour advanced notice.
